Finally. Fall is here. The perfect excuse for endless cups of coffee. Pumpkins spilling off the front porch. Cooler weather and leaves crunching under your feet. This is my favorite time of the year. The dog days of summer always have me in a slump. I count the days until the highs are in the 60s and my air conditioner is finally turned off. I wish it would stay fall all year around!
Tyler and I made plans to take Crew to his first pumpkin patch. i love using my kid as an excuse to go do things i secretly want to do. But really, i was so eager to see him play in the maze and pick out his own pumpkin. the first thing we did was plop him in the deer corn. it was most definitely his favorite part of the whole day. he had deer corn in his pockets, down his shorts, in his shoes, and a few stashed in his diaper.
the animals were my favorite part. i was interested to see how he would react to the horses. he has seen a few but the shire horses were massive. he loved them! he giggled when the mini horse tried to nibble on his fingers. he watched them and touched their manes. he was so intrigued by their movements and sounds. it was so funny to see his reactions.
After we loved on the horses, we went to pick out our carving pumpkin. this would be crew's first time to see pumpkins. he just smacked them.
The heritage farm is ran by a little family that has lived on the acreage for several years. She was running the gift shop and we chatted for awhile. she ended up giving us a couple of pumpkins for free!
On our way to the corn maze, we passed this wooden cut-out photo op. Guys. This picture!
Next up was a hayride. I didn't get very many pictures of him because he wanted to walk around on the trailer. I snapped a quick one while he was in Tyler's dads lap. He kept waiving at the guy driving the tractor and making car sounds with his mouth which is my favorite.
this pumpkin patch has a 5 acre corn maze. we didn't walk the entire thing of course but we let bub walk around a little and play with the leaves. he is more independent now and wants to walk everywhere on his own. Aslo, his little cat & jack high-rise pants and boots kiiiiiilled me.
Another photo-op coming out of the maze. He never smiles for me so these are more favs.
We let him pick out his baby pumpkin. he kept pointing and going to touch them all. all the ones he chose had nasty squash bugs on them so mama had to help a little.
And finally, the part that had us all smiling and laughing the most, the mini ponies. crew adored them. and they were just his size! They nibbled on his fingers and he would belly laugh every time, we had so much fun at our first pumpkin patch!
